6 Days in Da Nang with Kids: Our Honest Family Review of Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa

If you’re looking for a family-friendly beach holiday in Vietnam, Da Nang should be high on your list. Between the stunning beaches, world-class resorts, and easy access to attractions like Ba Na Hills and Hoi An, it offers the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.

Here’s a recap of our 6-day family vacation to Da Nang from 13–18 June 2026, where we stayed at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa.

Why We Chose Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa

After researching family-friendly resorts in Da Nang, Hyatt Regency stood out for several reasons:

  • Direct beach access
  • Multiple swimming pools
  • Excellent kids’ facilities
  • Spacious rooms
  • Regency Club privileges
  • Convenient location between Da Nang city and Hoi An

The resort ended up being a fantastic base for our holiday. In fact, we enjoyed the hotel so much that we deliberately kept our itinerary light and slow-paced.

Day 1: Arrival in Da Nang and a Relaxing Evening

After our flight from Singapore and transfer to the resort, we only arrived at the hotel at around 7pm.

Rather than rushing out, we decided to keep things simple.

After checking in and settling into our room, we ordered in-room dining and spent the evening relaxing while taking in our first views of the resort.

Sometimes the best way to start a holiday is to do absolutely nothing.

And after a long travel day, that was exactly what we needed.

Day 2: Resort Day – Pools, Beach and Dragon Bridge

One of our favourite travel philosophies is not to over-schedule every day.

So Day 2 was dedicated entirely to enjoying the resort.

The boys spent hours:

  • Swimming in the pools
  • Exploring the playground
  • Walking along the beach
  • Running around the beautifully landscaped grounds

The Hyatt Regency property is large enough that simply exploring it feels like an activity in itself.

The beach was particularly impressive—clean, spacious, and much less crowded than many popular beach destinations in Southeast Asia. There was even a little animal farm right within the resort itself!

In the evening, we headed into Da Nang city for dinner before catching the famous Dragon Bridge show.

Watching the dragon breathe fire and spray water into the night sky was a highlight for the kids and a must-see attraction if you’re visiting Da Nang on a weekend.

Day 3: Spa Day for the Whole Family

By Day 3, holiday mode had fully kicked in.

Instead of sightseeing, we treated ourselves to a relaxing family spa experience.

The four of us—Adeline, Oliver, Julian and myself—enjoyed a full-body massage, which was a surprisingly fun family activity.

Vietnam is known for offering excellent spa treatments at very reasonable prices, and this turned out to be one of the most relaxing days of our trip.

No rushing.

No schedules.

Just a chance to slow down and recharge.

Day 4: Ba Na Hills and the Famous Golden Bridge

This was our biggest adventure day of the trip.

We woke up bright and early and headed to Ba Na Hills, one of Vietnam’s most famous attractions.

Riding the World’s Longest Cable Car

One of the highlights before even reaching the summit was the cable car ride itself.

Ba Na Hills is home to one of the world’s longest non-stop cable car systems, stretching several kilometres across lush mountains and valleys.

The journey offers breathtaking panoramic views of:

  • Dense forests
  • Waterfalls
  • Rolling mountains
  • The Da Nang coastline in the distance

The ride alone is worth the visit.

Golden Bridge

Once at the top, we finally got to see the iconic Golden Bridge.

Supported by two giant stone hands emerging from the mountainside, the bridge is even more impressive in person than it appears in photos.

The views across the mountains were absolutely spectacular.

Alpine Coaster, Bumper Cars and 4D Experiences

The boys especially enjoyed:

  • The Alpine Coaster
  • Bumper car rides
  • Various 4D attractions
  • Indoor entertainment areas

Ba Na Hills does a great job combining natural beauty with family-friendly entertainment, making it an easy half-day experience.

Day 5: Hoi An Countryside Adventure

Our final full day was spent exploring the countryside around Hoi An.

This ended up being one of the most memorable experiences of the entire trip.

Cycling Through Rice Paddy Fields

We started with a leisurely bicycle ride through peaceful rice fields.

The slower pace allowed us to experience a completely different side of Vietnam compared to the busy city streets.

There was something incredibly calming about cycling through open farmland with mountains visible in the distance.

Meeting a Water Buffalo

One of the boys’ favourite moments was getting up close to a water buffalo. He’s a young 8 year old name Xe, which is the vietnamese word for “car”.

We even had the chance to ride him, creating a memory they’ll probably talk about for years.

Basket Boat Experience

Next came the famous Vietnamese basket boats.

Floating through the coconut palm waterways while local boatmen expertly navigated the round boats was both entertaining and surprisingly relaxing.

The basket boat ride has become one of Hoi An’s signature experiences, and it’s easy to see why.

Day 6: Goodbye Da Nang

All good holidays eventually come to an end.

We enjoyed an early breakfast before heading to the airport for our morning flight back to Singapore.

As always, the journey home gave us time to reflect on our favourite moments:

  • Relaxing at Hyatt Regency
  • Watching Dragon Bridge breathe fire
  • Riding the cable car at Ba Na Hills
  • Walking across the Golden Bridge
  • Cycling through Hoi An’s rice fields
  • Riding a water buffalo
  • Cruising through the coconut waterways in a basket boat

Two Things We Couldn’t Get Enough Of

Vietnamese Coffee

I may have consumed an unhealthy amount of Vietnamese coffee during this trip.

Strong, rich, sweet and dangerously addictive.

Whether it was a traditional iced coffee or topped up with vanilla cream, every cup seemed better than the last.

Regency Club Privileges

One of the best decisions we made was booking access to the Regency Club.

Every evening from 5pm to 7pm, we made our way to the lounge for:

  • Complimentary wine
  • Cocktails
  • Beer
  • Hot food
  • Light bites
  • Desserts

It quickly became our daily routine.

By the time we finished enjoying the food and drinks, we often weren’t very hungry for dinner.

The Regency Club added tremendous value to our stay and significantly enhanced the overall experience.

The Finances

And now, for all you FIRE nerds, here’s how much we spent in total.

Final Thoughts: Is Da Nang Worth Visiting With Kids?

Absolutely.

Da Nang offers a rare combination of:

✅ Beautiful beaches
✅ Family-friendly resorts
✅ Great food
✅ Affordable luxury
✅ Unique attractions
✅ Easy day trips to Hoi An and Ba Na Hills

For families travelling from Singapore, the short flight time of 3 hours makes it an especially attractive holiday destination.

Our six days felt wonderfully unhurried, which is exactly what we were looking for.

Instead of trying to see everything, we focused on spending quality time together—and that ended up being the best part of the trip.
