I’ve been voraciously reading up on blogs from the FIRE community, or at least in the personal finance vertical, and while it’s really interesting to see how people manage to save up to 90% of their incomes and embrace the frugal lifestyle, I have to admit that’s something I haven’t been able to work on much. So I’ve decided to look into Financial Independence blogs in Singapore, and see how they do it.
My approach is to see how I can open up other sources of income, grow those and funnel those into other investments that will become a multiplier to my net worth, while still more or less living with my current lifestyle. Seeing how other bloggers do it in Singapore provides me with a much better framework in terms of actually executing against my FI objectives.
So, here’s a list of Singapore based Financial Independence blogs
- Cheerful Egg – Run by Lionel Yeo, tweets @lioyeo
- My 15 hour work week – Thomas, semi-retired at 30+, shares portfolio
- Sipping Coconuts – From a lifestage perspective, they are probably the closest to where I am. Married with 2 young children, and yet they are at a stage where they are comfortable exploring a 1 year semi retirement state! Amazing.
- Investment Moats – Run by Kyith Ng. Check out his post on redesigning your life.
- SG Budget Babe – Dawn, who writes about savings, paying off debt, investing and budgeting.
- Turtle Investor – Explores alternate income and money hacks.
What about institutions or companies writing about personal finance?
Glad you asked. Well, here it is.
3 Personal Finance sites you should bookmark
- Moneysmart – A financial comparison website with a pretty comprehensive blog on topics ranging from loans, insurance, banking and investment.
- Seedly – A budgeting app with a blog across savings, insurance, budgeting and lifestyle topics.
- Dollars and Sense – A site that provides detailed information on investing, trading and property relating to Singapore.
So there you have it. Financial independence and early retirement blogs and resources from a Singaporean perspective.
Wealth accumulation mode: ON.
Oh, one last thing. I’ve also compiled a list of FIRE folks on Twitter. Feel free to follow this list. This list is a living list, and will grow over time as I add more people into the list. It is currently 54 strong.
