I just realised that my very first post on this site went live 13 November 2018, which means I have quietly blogged on this site for just over a year! Time flies when you’re having fun huh?!
In fact, I was so pumped when I first started this site that I posted twice in the same day! This site may be new, but i’m no stranger to blogging, and have my own personal site vinyarb, where I write (sporadically) about more personal views outside of personal finance, and sometimes movie reviews.
So, what were some of the highlights of the past year then?
Visits over Time
Over the last year, starting from 0, I managed to grow the site to roughly 2000 visitors per month (achieved last month in October). It’s far from being the fastest growing site, but with a day job and 2 kids, I’d say that’s not too shabby.
Search Engine Optimisation
Blogging previously on my personal site, I’ve never paid any attention to SEO, but with Side Hustle Rich, I learned about optimising content for Google’s Search Results Page, and am constantly looking to see how I can optimise my content for greater exposure
The first three months were practically silent in terms of appearing in Google search results, but I gradually started to gain some traction, and looking at my Search Console these days, I’m happy to see it trending in the right direction.
Blog Posts
To date, I’ve written 53 posts on this site, which equates to slightly over 4 per month. Not bad, but not great either. I need to strive for better in 2020.
All in all, I have to say I’m happy with the progress made on the site. What do you think? If there’s anything you want to feedback on, please comment below.
Congrats on one year, Richard! That’s a big milestone.
I don’t know how anyone who works full-time AND has young kids manages to blog at all. I think you’ve done really well with 53 posts!
I need to learn more about Google Search Console and how to use it to improve my SEO. Thanks for sharing your tips!
