Sometimes, you work your entire lifetime and hope you can save up enough to be a millionaire one day. Other times, a million bucks just happens to crash into your home through the roof.
Yes, this happened to a very lucky man when a meteorite fragment that survived entry into our atmosphere crashed into his home. The meteorite is made of carbonaceous chondrite, an extremely rare type of rock, and was estimated to be about 4.5B years old.
It weighed 2.1KG, and was estimated to be worth US1.85M.
The cruel twist
But wait, there’s always a cruel twist. While most of the outlets that reported this news assumed that he sold it at market value, according to coconuts, it was not so. In fact, he sold it at a grossly undervalued price of US14,000 via a middleman named Jared Collins.
This report at The Jakarta Post seems to confirm the transaction was at a much lower price point.
He’s now super pissed that everyone assumes he’s a millionaire.
Sometimes, you just have to look on the bright side… at least he wasn’t killed by the meteorite!
So the next time a space rock drops in on you, don’t be in a hurry to sell, huh?
