Long time readers of my site will know that I previously got the Ruby Steel Crypto VISA card from crypto.com. That was the 2nd lowest tier of cards from them, which offered free (or rather, a 100% rebate) Spotify.
I got the card in October of 2019, and after more than a year of free Spotify, I’m happy to report that I believe in their offering enough to support them further by moving up a tier, and ponying up for the Jade Green Card.
Crypto.com Jade Green Card
So, what additional benefits does upgrading to Jade Green have, over the Ruby Steel?
- Free Netflix and Spotify – While Ruby Steel only had rebates available for Spotify, when you upgrade to Jade Green, you will have 100% rebate for both Spotify and Netflix. I am a subscriber to both, and having experienced a year of Spotify rebates without any hitches, I figure they’ll be good for the Netflix one as well.
- 3% cashback on everything – Jade Green card offers a 3% cashback (in the form of CRO) on every purchase made with the debit card with up to 10% on selected merchants. 3% cashback refers to staked card. If unstaked, cashback is 1.5%.
- Airport lounge access via LoungeKey – Unlimited lounge access via LoungeKey. To activate your LoungeKey access, follow the links and instructions to register on the site, and your Crypto Card will be all that’s needed to access these airport lounges.
- US$800 fee-free ATM withdrawal
Jade Green Card Unveiled
I received the card in the mail over the weekend, and I must say, similar to the Ruby Steel, it feels solid (metal card after all) and looks sleek.
I’m looking forward to cutting off another expense (or rather, getting that expense paid for). I guess this post does fall under FIRE and Personal Finance a little eh?
Staking for Jade Green Card
Staking for the Jade Green card currently requires 50,000 CRO. This translates to about US$3,200 or SGD$4,300 based on current CRO price.
You will also earn 10% APR interest on your stake. My stake in Jade Green is actually 10,000 CRO (S$864) because I applied for the upgrade late last year, before they increased the staking requirements.
With the 10,000 staked, I’m currently receiving about 19CRO (S$1.64) on a weekly basis, which works out to be 10%. So in a year, I will be getting back ~$86 back in terms of interest, of course due to the volatility of the token, the SGD equivalent could be very different. But that’s a risk of earning in crypto.
But the real kicker are the rebates for Spotify and Netflix. Given they are about S$12 each per month, I’m essentially getting S$24 of expenses free! That translates to S$288 in value per year. When you add that to the interest and the 10% NTUC rebates, it’s turning out to be a rather good deal for the card.
If you’re looking to get the card, you can use my referral link below, and if you stake at least 5000 CRO, we’ll both get US$25 in CRO!
Do note that due to the restrictions by the new card issuer PayrNet, new Crypto.com Visa cards cannot be used for any international transactions, and are not eligible for Spotify rebates, which severely devalues the use case for this card. There is no timeline for the removal of this restriction.
