Over the weekend, 7 August, Marvel launched their very first NFT, featuring friendly neighborhood Spiderman in a variety of poses. It was the first NFT drop I participated in, and because it was from Marvel, I expected the rare, ultra rare and secret rare ones to be snapped up within minutes of launch.
Altogether, there are 5 versions of the NFTs, offered up in differing quantity with corresponding price levels.
These NFTs are only available on the Veve App, and there will be more Marvel drops coming in August and beyond, so if this is something you’re interested in, download the app and check it out. There are already some DCEU NFTs, along with other popular culture NFTs like Back to the Future, Ultraman etc.
In fact, the spiderman series proved extremely popular, with the entire series, even the common minted ones, have been sold out, and are only available on the secondary market.
Rare – Spiderman Jump into Action
The one that I managed to get, was a rare collection called Spider Man, Jump Into Action.
For this rare piece, there’s a total of 9,000 minted. Not that rare, I guess. The list price was $100, and when I looked into the marketplace, there were roughly 990 of them already for sale, most of them looking for a quick flip, selling between $130 to $200.
The NFT includes the ability to blend the NFT into your surrounding area via AR.
Here’s a look at my very own spidey hanging out with me on my balcony, just shooting the shit.
Given this is official Marvel dip into the NFT world, I think I may look to hold for a few years, and see where this takes me. After all, it took 4 years for the NFT rocks to lift off.
In the meantime, I’m still waiting on the Renaissance of CryptoKitties.
